Whitney Houston is known for a lot of things. She’s the only artist to chart seven consecutive #1 songs. “I Will Always Love You” is the best-selling single of all time (and that doesn’t even count Dolly’s version). And she’s in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most-awarded female artist ever. But you know what she’s not famous for? Puppets.
We’re going to change that.
That’s right, it’s Puppet Playlist #24: Whitney Houston! And we will always love telling you about the incredible show that we’ve got in store for you. We’ve assembled a team of great puppeteers and musicians that are sure to make anyone feel like a Queen of the Night.
So come on down to Triskelion Arts on July 13th or July 14th (or both??) and watch some puppets be danced by somebody. (See what we did there?)
Every few months, we invite a group of talented puppeteers and musicians to create original works of puppetry and exciting reinterpretations of music based on a particular musical theme (voted on by the audience at the previous show). This Playlist is inspired by the songs of Whitney Houston, mixed with live musical interpretations by some of New York’s most exciting young singer-songwriters.
Since the first show in 2009, Puppet Playlist has played to often sold-out audiences. Previous performers (and their work) have been seen all over New York and throughout the world, on, off- and off-off-Broadway, at HERE Arts Center, Shakespeare in the Park, the Metropolitan Opera, FringeNYC, Lincoln Center, with Jim Henson Productions, Sesame Street, and The Muppets.
