ABOUT THE SHOW
Puppet Playlist takes brilliant puppeteers and talented musicians and slams them together into an evening of live theater to stir the senses. The Playlist features performances of original works of puppetry based on a musical theme (selected by the audience from the prior show), mixed with live musical interpretations by some of New York’s most exciting singer-songwriters. Since 2009 Puppet Playlist has played to sold-out audiences, becoming one of the primary platforms for the development of new short-form puppetry in the country.
Previous performers (and their work) have been seen all over New York, across the country, and throughout the world, on, off- and off-off-Broadway, at Shakespeare in the Park, the Metropolitan Opera, FringeNYC, Lincoln Center, with Jim Henson Productions, and on both American and international television.

ABOUT THE POSITIONS
PRODUCER works alongside the curators, Josh Luxenberg and Jon Levin, to produce the show. This includes monitoring the Puppet Playlist email, taking on all communications and organization for submissions and chosen artists, designers, technicians, The Tank and the venue. The Producer keeps track of performer/act information, tracking the show budgets, working with Josh and Jon on grants, outreach to the puppet community, general troubleshooting, proofreading, other administrative needs and of course duties as needed for the shows themselves. COMPENSATION: $700 flat fee per Playlist.
MARKETING MANAGER takes on creating graphics for each show, creating the program, writing marketing blurbs, updating the website and vimeo, including creating artist pages with bios and videoes, organizing and maintaining media related to the show (photos + video), writing and disseminating the press release, eblasts (approx 3-4 including a submission email), overseeing the facebook page, and creating each show’s program (½ page, single-sided). COMPENSATION $500 flat fee per Playlist.
Hours vary based on where we are in the production cycle, ranging from about 1 – 5 hours a week, up to 10 – 15 hours on the week of the show (including rehearsals and performance). Most of the work can be done from home, but the team meets every two weeks as well. Each Playlist is approximately 30-40 hours of work total, and we run 3 Playlists a year; each show has three performances over two days, plus tech and a dress rehearsal on the first day. Puppet Playlist’s current venue is Triskelion Arts in Greenpoint.
For both Producer and Marketing Manager positions, please send resume (in PDF or Word format) and a short cover letter telling us a little bit about yourself and why you’re interested in the position. Please include a couple of references. These can be professional or academic, but should be able to speak to your organizational abilities and working style.
For Marketing Manager position, please also send us a link to a graphic design portfolio (or attach images), and send a writing sample of a marketing-style blurb or e-blast that you’ve written. If you don’t have an example, you may create a show description blurb for the (fictional) Playlist based on the music of Ray Charles. We’re interested in a style that’s jaunty, fun, and irreverent. Please see puppetplaylist.com/playlist/pp20-billy-joel/ for an example. (But please show us your own sense of humor!)
Submit to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications accepted on a rolling basis until Dec. 19th.
